A story of the building of the American West from a woman’s point of view. Based on the true story of Augusta Tabor, a pioneer who helped build Denver during the silver boom. When her husband, Haw Tabor, “The Silver King”, decides to run for Senate in 1883, he dumps his wife of over twenty years in a scandalous divorce, forcing Augusta to fight for what is rightly hers and build her independent identity. It’s the story of a woman who until now has been lost to history.
Meet Melissa
Academia was my pathway to writing. I enjoy wrestling with lofty concepts such as the structure of knowledge and the nature of reality. A philosopher at heart, I am forever curious about frameworks and the concept of truth. I have a fascination with science, math and logic and believe we use writing as a tool to grasp complexity. Storytelling has played a role in this endeavor, such as in the ancient world or in works of existentialism. When philosophy and storytelling meet, we find a deeper understanding not only of ideas, but of humanity and self. Creative writing uses a different part of the brain altogether. Here, imagination is the engine for transporting different times and worlds that are entirely of one’s own making.
